Paint Technician

Reports to:

Technical Supervisor

Scope of position:

Operate painting equipment, paint product, and maintain paint booths and associated equipment.

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum of 1-3 years of manufacturing experience.
  2. High School Diploma or GED.
  3. Good Communications and problem solving skills.
  4. Exhibit good technical skills and be mechanically inclined.
  5. Exceptional Attention to details.

Typical Work Hours:

Monday-Friday 7:00 AM-3:30 PM or 3:30 PM-12:00 AM with½ hour for lunch. Work hours may vary to meet needs of organization. Hourly Position.

Tasks and Duties:

  1. Keep work area clean and well organized throughout the work shift.
  2. Work safely at all times following safe work procedures and policies.
  3. Understand customer quality expectations and processes required to exceed those expectations.
  4. Evaluate product before spraying to ensure proper preparation was completed.
  5. Ensure product is hung safely before transporting into or out of the paint booth.
  6. Clean and maintain painting equipment, booths and curing ovens as recommended by the manufacturer.
  7. Apply paint and or primer following Standard Operating Procedures and best practices.
  8. Check proper paint thickness and adhesion per prescribed specifications.
  9. Set ovens to proper curing temperatures and allow for adequate curing.
  10. Maintain cleanliness of ovens and area between ovens and the paint booth.
  11. Ensure that proper paint is selected for the given order and applied appropriately.
  12. Communicate and work with other Paint Technicians, Production Associates, Leads, Supervisors, Scheduling, Management to ensure products are completed in a timely fashion while maintaining quality.
  13. Understand the causes ofrework and work to avoid.
  14. Fill out necessary documentation and ensure products are labeled properly and legibly.
  15. Perform all duties of the Production Associates in addition to the Paint Technician Duties.
  16. Assist supervisor with training new employees to Standard Operating Procedures.
  17. Assist supervisor with revising Standard Operating Procedures as needed.
  18. Report any abnormalities in the operation to your supervisor, lead or manager.
  19. All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Working Conditions:

Working conditions are often noisy, hot, or cold with industrial odors and dust present in the workplace.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  1. Safety Glasses with side shields.
  2. ANSI Safety Toe Footwear.
  3. Wear full length pants.
  4. Wear respirator as needed.
  5. Hearing Protection as needed
  6. Hard Hat as needed.
